COVID-19 UPDATE #3: June 20

On behalf of the entire Walk The Tours team, I am happy to say the Government of Alberta has officially cleared us to resume operations. We will be working over the weekend to implement and announce our re-launch plan. We don't quite know how it's going to look as of yet, and we do know it will be different. However, we can assure you that we will do our best to maintain the high level of entertainment and quality that you've come to expect. Thank you to everyone who has stuck by us and supported us through this difficult time and we cannot wait to walk, talk and share our amazing city with you again!

Yours truly,

Brian Robertson

Featured Tour

5 edited pictures  |  professional shoot  |  FREE
You can break up the day with an activity that is great for the whole family and will document history from your perspective. Our professional photographer will come to your residence for approximately 30 minutes and take a series of pictures posed and not, which reflect how your family is isolating. The shoot will be done in your doorway / porch / backyard / etc, and from a safe distance. Our photographer will contact you prior to arriving to discuss the shots and any concerns that you may have. In the end, you will receive 5 edited photos for free, sent digitally.
Donations are accepted. All donations will go to our winter/spring guide, Rob, to support him through this tough time. Please take a minute to read Rob's bio below.

Rob Fretz

I hired Rob last spring after he was a guest on my tour and expressed an interest in doing it. When I told my partners about him, I said he's a really nice guy, but I don't know if he can talk. Turns out he doesn't shut up! It is a great quality in a tour guide, and Rob quickly became our lead guide last summer. He was the only guide we kept on for the fall/winter. Unfortunately, on March 13, we mutually agreed to stop running tours to protect Rob's health. An extremely difficult decision as it was his primary source of income.

When I asked Rob for a bio, I got.... well Rob. I'll paraphrase concisely; 'I worked construction for years and then became a guide and a photographer.' It perfectly exemplified him actually. A humble paragraph of generalities. But Rob is more than that. Far more than that.

If you've been on his Downtown South tour, you've heard him talk about the military and the importance of Central Memorial Park. I guarantee it brought tears to your eyes. His own experiences and multiple tours of duty are a part of his life he doesn't like talking about. You see Rob is a War Vet, who like many, have struggled since returning. Rob is often too proud to ask for help, and he never wants a handout. He wants to work for what he gets, and his work, like most of us, has been taken from him. #6FeetPhotography is an initiative to get him working again, and while he will not ask for it, I will. If you book a #6FeetPhotography session, and only if you have the means, please consider donating for the service. 100% donations received will go directly to Rob to assist with this tough time.

Thanks for your consideration,

Brian Robertson
